Mesopotamian religion
Like the Egyptians, the Sumerians dedicated to their gods temples, offerings, food and sacrifices. But the Sumerian gods were essentially anthropomorphic. The non-explanation of natural phenomena led them to the creation of many gods, including Shamash (the Sun), Ishtar (Venus) and Marduk (the chief god); these gods mingled with the stars of the firmament. The Sumerians were seeking the origin of the world with the religion; and so if you have news of a series of legends.
The Mesopotamians had adopted a general polytheistic religion, which was not them waved the tomb beyond- life nor was there any ethical concerns. Prayers were intended to obtain favors from the gods and temples functioned even as banks, lending money at interest; also served as grain deposits.
It was customary for all women, once in life, should whoring with a stranger and give the money for the maintenance of the temple. The clergy was powerful and interfered in political power. Relying on the belief of predestination and fate, they launched the famous horoscopes, which combined astronomical readings with a mystical interpretation.
In the Babylonian Empire, agricultural country, it was believed the fertility god Tammuz. The Myth of Tammuz is similar to the Egyptian myth of Osiris. It was said that when Tammuz died and reached the underground kingdom on Earth life stopped, the plants dried up. "One who gave birth to the buds on Earth no longer lives. 2 King of the Army no longer exists. " So cried the goddess Ishtar her husband dead Tammuz. With great effort, Ishtar passed through the seven gateways of the underworld and returned to Earth Tammuz. When he returned, all nature is alive again.
