Scientific renaissance

The medieval knowledge was fundamentally bookish, that is, based solely on the information and explanations contained in the traditional books - especially the Holy Scriptures (Bible) and the texts of the Church Fathers - theological authorities whose writings form the group called Patristic. With the advent of the Renaissance , curiosity and critical thinking appreciated scientific observation and boosted experimentalism. The result was an extraordinary development in the field of science.

An interesting example of Renaissance science is Leonardo Da Vinci . Although best known for his artistic production, he developed remarkable scientific ideas - many of them only published after his death. It was theforerunner of many modern inventions such as a flying machine, the parachute, the submarine and the assault by car (battle tank).

Polish Copernicus demonstrated that the Earth is not the center of the universe. It was not the sun that revolved around it (geocentric), as previously thought, but the Earth revolved around the sun (heliocentric). His research was completed by the GermanKepler and the Italian Galileo.

In medicine, the Flemish Vesalius is considered the "Father of Anatomy"; SpanishMiguel Servet discovered the small blood circulation; and French Paré had surgery progress, to create the connection technique of the arteries.

Despite all the intellectual and scientific progress achieved in the Renaissance, we must not forget that only the elite had access to it. Contradictorily, persisted - especially in the lower classes - beliefs in the supernatural and magic, inherited from the alchemists and sorcerers of the Middle Ages or even more remote roots.
