« There is no work more pleasing to Allah, exalted is he, that man can accomplish the day of Nahr and sacrifice a beast. « Eat as you seem, give in charity and keep a part. "Last year, people were suffering from hunger and I wanted you to contribution " (Bukhari and Muslim).
Abû Sa'id al-Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him, said: «the Prophet () immolated as a sacrifice a great horned RAM and powerful, with black spots on the muzzle, around the legs and eyes .».
And Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, reported: " the Prophet () immolated two large Rams variegated, whose color was on the white " (Bukhari and Muslim).
And after Abu Hurayra, may Allah be pleased with him, the Prophet () said: " find it me preferable to sacrifice a white beast than two black " (Ahmad). Imam Ahmad commented: "I prefer the white beasts of sacrifice".
Anyone who contemplates the stories related to the sacrifices made by the Prophet () and the directives that it () sent to the Muslim community in this regard, will deduct that the beast of sacrifice must meet certain conditions. It must be a big strong, castrated, horned RAM which the color takes on white, with black spots around the muzzle, eyes, belly and legs, or any other Motley beast. This RAM must have attained the age prescribed for the immolation. Otherwise, a sheep with age less will be also valid. You must choose a fatty, meaty, nice to see RAM and having attained the age prescribed by the immolation.
The Muslim should not sacrifice its beast before the prayer of the feast, because in this case, it will pass for a handout and it must sacrifice another beast in his place. The time prescribed for immolation extends the sunset of the thirteenth day of Dhul-Hidjjah, because the Prophet () said: " all the days of Tashriq are days of sacrifice ." Moreover, the Muslim must participate in the immolation, in imitation of the Prophet (). The beast of sacrifice must be free of any defect, because this is the exaltation of sacred injunctions of Allah, exalted is he. And exalt the injunctions sacred of Allah, exalted is he, is the piety of the heart. The beast must be blind, sick or frail.That is why the Prophet () ordered Muslims to choose fat, fleshy, beasts with horns and ears without defects.
It is preferable for those who intend to sacrifice a beast as a sacrifice to refrain from cutting the hair and nails, the beginning of the first decade of Dhul-Hidjjah and until the day of immolation, taking into account the hadith in which the Prophet () says:
« " If the first decade of Dhul-Hidjjah begins and one of you wants to sacrifice a beast, that he cut her hair and her nails until it burns ", and in another narration: " ... that it touches anything her hair or her skin.».
This provision applies only to the Muslim who intends to sacrifice a sacrifice beast and is not his family.
