The sacrifice of the day of Eid al Adha
The sacrifice of the day of Eid al Adha, The sacrifice of an animal on behalf of Allah (al-adha) is a ' Usman (Act of worship) very important in islam. It is a Sunnah established by Prophet Ibrahim, upon him peace and salvation. Since the pre-Islamic era, the people of Mecca sacrificed animals as an offering to the gods. With the advent of islam, Allah ordered that this sacrifice be made in his sole name; the sacrifice being a ' Usman (an act of worship) as prayer, it should be accomplished only by Allaah. This is the meaning of the following verses:
« Made prayer for your Lord and sacrifice»
«Say: "Verily my prayer, my acts of devotion, my life and my death belong to Allah, Lord of the universe". »
The day of Eid, Muslims around the world sacrifice an animal, thus obeying the injunction of their Lord, " made the prayer for your Lord and sacrifice " (Quran: 108/2), also following the tradition of the beloved Mohammed () initiated before him by Prophet Ibrahim, upon him peace and salvation.
Legal status of the sacrifice
The scholars differed as to the obligation to perform the sacrifice of an animal the day of Eid. Imam Malik is a strongly recommended Sunnah. For imam Abu Haneefah, it is an obligation for the resident (someone who is not on a trip) has the physical capability.
The origin of this difference is: primo to know if the fact that the Prophet () has made should be construed as an obligation or not. Secondly, the interpretation of certain hadith as for example: " than intend to sacrifice an animal to refrain from touching [cut] in her hair or her nails . (Muslim and Ahmad). The expression "intends to", Malik, and cephas ' i concluded that the sacrifice is not mandatory. Add that when Abu Bourdath has slain his sacrifice before the prayer of Eid, the Prophet () ordered him to redo his sacrifice after the prayer. Abu Hanifa then concluded that the sacrifice is required. As to not cut hair and fingernails if it intends to sacrifice an animal, this is recognized by the four imams.
The categories of the beasts that can sacrifice
The beast sacrificed the day of Eid must belong to one of these four categories: sheep, goat, camelid and cattle. Imam Malik, based on the fact that the Prophet () has never sacrificed that sheep the day of Eid has established the following order of preference: ovine, bovine, camelid and finally goat. Unlike its ranking on the sacrifice, Hadi, made in Mecca during the pilgrimage. The other imams, whereas there is no difference between the two sacrifices, prefer, in order, camelids, cattle, sheep, and goats.
The age of the beast to sacrifice
The age of the goats must be greater than 1 year; for the camels than 4 years, for greater than 2 years cattle and sheep than 6 months.
To avoid defects
If it is clearly established that the beast box, is blind, sick or skinny, his sacrifice is not valid. Malik and Ahmad narrated from al Barra Ibn ' Azib that the Prophet () when asked what beast is unsuitable for sacrifice, did sign four of his hand and said: " one that box and the lameness is clear, that is blind whose disability is clear, who is sick with the disease is clear and the gaunt that has no marrow without bone. .»
A sheep cannot be sacrificed by more than one person but may be for the camel and sheep associate with at least six other people.
What should I do the meat?
Allah, exalted be says:
« [...] "Eat yourself and make it eat the miserable needy [...] " « » Koran 22/28
« These animals where you shoot benefits until a deadline set; then place of immolation is the ancient House. » (Koran 22/33).
The Prophet () said: « eat, make alms and put aside. .Unanimous agreement, it is illegal to sell the meat of the sacrificed beast.
The moment of sacrifice
The time of the sacrifice, starts after the Eid prayer, preferably after the imam is slain the beast and lasts four days.
How to sacrifice and what to say in setting
The Prophet () said: « [...]; "If you kill, do well and sharpen your knife for the beast (of pain).. Narrated by Muslim, who also reported from Anas ibn Malik that the Prophet () was used to make the sacrifice of two horned white Rams and that he () égorgeaient in his own hand in placing the foot on their flank and saying: " Bismillah wa Allahu Akbar (name of Allah, Allah is the greatest).. Sometimes, he added: " Lord accepts the Mohammed, the family of Mohammed and Mohammed community .»
Recall that the sacrifice is a symbol of Islam. There is no more beloved action by Allah on the day of the Eid-al-adha as the sacrifice of an animal. Allah forgive all past sins from the flow of the first drop of blood.
Remember also that the sacrificed animal will have the day of judgment with all his hair, his horns, its legs and its meat (to weigh more heavy in the balance and increase the rewards).
And Allah knows best.
