what is the significance of the day of ashura

Many Islamic scholars are unanimous in saying that on the Day of Ashura encouraged the giving of gifts, charity and spending on his family. This is an optional extra worship, along with the post. This promotion is associated with the following.

Alms in Islam, in general, is encouraged by the case, it is especially important to the significant days of the Muslim calendar, since the commission of worship and good these days should be increased.
Allah Almighty said: "They give food to the poor, orphans and prisoners, for the love of it. They say, "We feed you only for the Face of Allah and do not want from you neither reward nor thanks! We are afraid of their Lord of the dark and weary day. " Allah will protect them from the evil of that day, and gave them prosperity and happiness "(76 / 8-11).
Regarding this issue, there are two kinds of legends. One of them concerns the merits of almsgiving in the 10 day of Muharram (Ashura), and the second - the dignity of family spending on this day. But both of these provisions are interrelated, as the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said that the best of the believers is the one who best applies to your family. Therefore, the best charity - a charity his family.
Companions of the Prophet, Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As narrated that the Messenger (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever fasts on the 10th day of Muharram, like one who had fasted throughout the year. And the one who gives charity on this day, like one who gave alms throughout the year. "
Also in another hadith it says: "Anyone who on the day of Ashura will give at least some particle charity, Allah Almighty bestow his winning the size of Mount Uhud, and the awards will be on his side of the scales."
With regard to sadaqah to the family, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever is generous to his family on the day of Ashura, for him Allah will be generous to the end of this year."
Also in the hadith it says: "He who on the day of Ashura easier for family subsistence (food, etc.), the rest of the year will take place in abundance" (Tabarani).
Another hadith states: "Who is the Day of Ashura feed and water your family, Almighty Allah will give Barack throughout the year."
Generosity always necessary for a Muslim, especially in such holidays as the day of Ashura. It's one more tool path closer to God and gain His pleasure, expressing humility, obedience and caring for those in need. Also, the believer must be particularly generous to their loved ones and provide more products to this day compared to others. You can make a gift, bring food, prepare a meal or give sadaqah money.
